Produced by Nick Vander Puy
Mole Lake, Wisconsin (IndianCountryTV)

Running between  communities is an old tradition in Indian Country. Runners carry medicine and messages between communities.

Donnie Gokey from Lac Courte Oreilles carries an eagle feather staff between Pelican Lake and Mole Lake, Wisconsin.

When he arrives at the Mole Lake Pow Wow grounds near Swamp Creek in mid-July he takes a break to talk about the value of running.

"Supper is always a surprize at Mole Lake."
