Chilchinbeto, Arizona

Funeral services were held for CHARLIE C. BILLY, 74, on November 29, at the Chilchinbeto Church of the Nazarene. Interment followed at the Chilchinbeto Community Cemetery. Charlie was born December 14, 1936, in Chilchinbeto. He passed away November 24, 2011, in Kayenta, Arizona.

Charlie graduated from Albuquerque Indian School in the 1950s and then enrolled at Nazarene Indian Bible College in Albuquerque, where he earned his bachelors degree. Charlie was a pastor at the Chilchinbeto Church of the Nazarene for 38 years. When the old church burned down in 1983, he helped build a new one and served the Lord with great dignity and pride. Charlie was the owner of a masterwork of Navajo weaving known as the "World's Largest Rug," most often seen in public during presidential inauguration ceremonies on the Navajo Nation.
