Pond, Clifford R.: Army Veteran Walks On

Pendleton, Oregon

Funeral services were held for CLIFFORD R. POND, 49, on July 11, at the Agency Longhouse in Mission, Oregon. Interment followed at the Pond Cemetery near the McKay Reservoir, Pendleton. Clifford was born June 8, 1962, in Hermiston, Oregon. He passed away July 7, 2011, at Kadlec Medical Center in Richland, Washington, following a heart attack.
   
Clifford graduated from Pendleton High School in 1981. He attended college at Western Oregon State, Haskell Indian Junior College and Eastern Oregon University. Mr. Pond was honorably discharged from the United States Army. He was involved in the Tribal Veteran Basketball Tournaments for the Northwest Tribes, and supported all Veterans functions. Mr. Pond was employed for many years by the Confederated Tribes of the Umatilla Indian Reservation. He had worked for many departments including: the Umatilla Tribal Police, Youth Recreation, Wildhorse Resort Security, Maintenance, and most recently he worked for the Umatilla Reservation Housing Authority.
