Rivera, Joseph M: Walks On

Pendleton, Oregon

Funeral services were held for JOSEPH M. RIVERA, 75, on July 2, at St. Andrew’s Catholic Church in Mission, Oregon. Interment followed at the Olney Cemetery in Pendleton. Joseph was born May 1, 1936, in Whitefish, Montana. He passed away June 26, 2011, in Pendleton, Oregon.
   
Joseph was raised in the communities of Whitefish, Cut Bank and Browning, Montana. As a young man he enlisted with the Marines and served his country during the Korean War. After his discharge in 1956 he began working in law enforcement. He worked as a police officer for the federal government on reservation land at Fort Hall, Neah Bay, Lummi, Browning and Quinault in Washington state, as well as the Umatilla Indian Reservation. He also worked for a time at the Port of Portland. He retired in 1996 and continued to reside in our area, but especially like spending his winters in Arizona.
