Orie, Gerald Steven: Walkin On

Green Bay, Wisconsin April 2011

Funeral services were held for GERALD STEVEN ORIE, 69, on February 9, 2011, at Ryan Funeral Home in DePere, Wisconsin. Interment followed at Emmanuel Lutheran Cemetery. Gerald was born July 11, 1941,  He passed away February 3, 2011, after a long, courageous battle with cancer.

Gerald grew up in the Hungarian community of Southgate, Michigan. He was proud of his Hungarian heritage, growing up in the history, language, music, culture of his family and friends. Jerry was an anthropologist, social scientist, and scholar of Native American and World history. He was well educated and was schooled in Montieth College, Detroit, Michigan, and graduated from the University of Wisconsin-Green Bay. Jerry worked for the Department of Transportation for many years. He was also a substitute teacher for the Menominee Indian School District. Jerry loved the outdoors, the New Mexico skyline, traveling West, and visiting Mexico. He loved the mountains, and nature. He enjoyed visiting national parks and he was an avid reader.
