Shock-Tashwick, Delores

WASHINGTON, White Swan – Funeral services were held for DELORES TASHWICK-SHOCK, 78, on October 8, 2010, at the Toppenish Creek Longhouse in White Swan. Interment followed at the Simpson Cemetery. Delores was born June 26, 1932, in White Swan. She passed away October 5, 2010.

Delores’ education included attending Chemawa Indian School in Salem, Oregon. Her lifetime was spent as a proud homemaker and providing for her family with the gathering of traditional foods. She enjoyed root digging, picking berries, fishing, hunting, and cooking for the longhouses and Shaker churches. She enjoyed all traditional religions; the Longhouse, the Shaker Church, and truly loved to attend all Medicine Dances. One of her biggest joys was watching her grandchildren play sports. She enjoyed visiting different casinos, going to yard sales, and really enjoyed shopping at Goodwill and Value Village. She was a proud member of the Veterans and 4th of July powwow committees. She was proud to be a “Grandma” for the Tin-now-wit Powwow and participating in parades throughout the Yakima Valley. (Yakama Nation Review, November 5, 2010)
