Alaska Native says he forgives 2 attackers for beating him

Anchorage, Alaska (AP) 8-09

An Alaska Native man says he has forgiven the people who beat him and shouted racial slurs in an attack caught on tape and posted on YouTube.

Eddie Barr calls the August 5 attack scary but says he’s trying to move on. He tells KTUU that he has already forgiven the two.

Police have accused 19-year-old Robert Gum and 20-year-old Deanna Powers of assault and harassment. They say the two called Barr racist names and threw eggs at him. They even pushed and kicked him.

Barr says he’s been homeless for about eight years and is trying to get his life back in order.
