Suicide task force formed on South Dakota reservation

The Crow Creek tribal chairman says a task force has been formed stem a recent rise in suicides and attempted suicides on the Crow Creek Indian Reservation in central South Dakota.

Chairman Duane Big Eagle says two young mothers died the week of Christmas. He says three youths and one man attempted suicide during that time.

Big Eagle says the tribe, Bureau of Indian Affairs and Crow Creek Circles of Care organization are working with Indian Health Services’ suicide prevention team.
