Sisseton to build community centers with casino money

An American Indian tribe that runs the Mystic Lake casino outside Minnesota’s Twin Cities has given $1 million to the Sioux tribe at Sisseton to build two community centers.

The Shakopee Mdewakanton Sioux Tribe has helped the Sisseton tribe before. It loaned the South Dakota tribe $32 million in 1998 to build a casino and hotel complex at Hankinson, N.D., and later provided $5 million to add a second wing on the motel and build a golf course.

The Minnesota tribe loaned the Sisseton tribe $17 million two years ago to build a new casino-hotel at Watertown.
