June 7 opening is planned for a Native American student living and learning center being built at Crazy Horse Memorial in the Black Hills.

It includes classrooms and a residence hall that ultimately can accommodate up to 40 students.

Officials say there will be an initial group of 16 students who will attend freshman-level classes for 10 weeks under a satellite program with the University of South Dakota.

The work on a mountain sculpture honoring Sioux warrior Crazy Horse is ongoing.
