Oklahoma State University has record four students named as Udall Scholars

Still Water, Oklahoma April 2010

Oklahoma State University has had four students named as recipients of the prestigious Udall Foundation Scholarships, a record for the Stillwater school.

OSU’s four Udall winners are Jeremy Bennett of Yukon, Alesia Hallmark of Chandler, Lauren White of Idabel and Brooke Hill of Hugoton, Kan.

The Udall scholarship provides $5,000 for educational expenses to outstanding sophomores and juniors who are studying the environment and related fields, or are American Indian or Alaska Natives in fields related to health care or tribal public policy.

Eighty students across the U.S. received the scholarships this year. The awards were created in 1992 and are named for Morris Udall, a former U.S. congressman from Arizona.

OSU never before has had more than two Udall scholarship winners in any year.
