Sloan, Freddie M. U.S. 101st. Army Airborne Division

ARIZONA, Tuba City – Funeral services were held for FREDDIE M. SLOAN, 70, on October 20, 2010, at the Greenlaw Baptist Church in Flagstaff, Arizona. Interment with military honors was at Citizens Cemetery. Freddie was born March 11, 1940, in Crownpoint, New Mexico. He passed away October 14, 2010, after a lengthy illness.

    Freddie grew up in Brigham City and Green River, Utah, and Lake Valley, New Mexico. He graduated from Riverside Indian High School and served in the U.S. Army 101st Airborne Division during the Vietnam War. He worked numerous jobs including construction and truck driving, and even was a barber. He retired from the BIA Boarding School in Tuba City, Arizona. He enjoyed sports, visiting with his family and taking care of his younger brothers. After his parents retired from missionary work, he and his siblings took care of them at their home in Bitter Springs, Arizona. (Navajo Times, November 4, 2010)
