Each year the Lac Courte Oreilles Ojibwe School System sponsors a contest pow wow at the LCO Honor The Earth Pow wow Ground 11 miles southeast of Hayward, Wisconsin. News From Indian Country bumps into the ever spectacular Robert (Bobbers) Powless Jr. who has traveled the pow wow circuit for many years dancing in the traditional category.

We chat with him briefly in this video while he is finishing up getting his outfit ready for the grand entry on Saturday, May 31.

He says this may be the only contest pow wow that he will go to this summer, but he comes to LCO because he has friends and relatives here. "Each pow wow has its own character," says Powless but his favorites are at LCO and Bad River, his hometown pow wow when everybody comes home to his reservation.

"Wouldn't you like to win first place?"
