New pact makes it easier for Menominee to transfer to UW-Madison

Madison, Wisconsin (AP) 11-07

Menominee students will have an easier time transferring to the University of Wisconsin-Madison thanks to a new agreement between the university and a tribal college.

Students who complete two years at the College of the Menominee Nation with a B average will be accepted as transfers at UW-Madison under the deal signed during late October.

The college on the Menominee Indian Reservation is one of 34 community colleges in the United States controlled by tribes.

It has had an admissions agreement with UW-Madison’s College of Agricultural and Life Sciences since 2002, but the signing marked the first formal agreement between the university as a whole and one of the state’s tribal institutions.
