White Earth homicide victim was longtime resident 4-14-07

OGEMA, Minn. (AP) - A 33-year-old carpenter from the White Earth Indian Reservation was shot to death while processing maple syrup, according to a family spokesman.

Chad J. Swedberg was killed Friday morning, said Andrew Manzi, a family friend. Becker County authorities have ruled his death a homicide.

Swedberg was a longtime resident of the White Earth Lake Ogema area. Ogema is on the White Earth Indian Reservation in northwestern Minnesota.

Tribal police and the Bureau of Criminal Apprehension were assisting in the investigation.
